Bill O'Reilly Scandal

Trump earlier in the day declared O'Reilly innocent of the allegations that prompted Fox to pay $13 million to settle complaints from women at the network, the New York Times reported.

Amid the furor, Trump praised O'Reilly during an interview Wednesday with the New York Times, calling him a "good person" who "shouldn't have settled" with his accusers.

"I don't think Bill did anything wrong", the president said. "Because you should have taken it all the way", said Trump. "He is someone I know well, is a good person", he added. That was when then-Fox News personalities Gretchen Carlson and Andrea Tantaros went public with their allegations of sexual harassment against Ailes and O'Reilly, respectively.

On the campaign trail, supporters of Donald Trump often shouted "lock her up", referring to Hillary Clinton and her use of a private email server while secretary of State.

More than 60 companies have pulled out from the show since Saturday, and the Washington Post reports that some of the companies still advertising on the show are only doing so because they are locked into previously agreed upon ad-buys.

Trump is a regular on O'Reilly's show, and the two have been spotted at baseball game's in year's past with the president granting the Fox News host primetime exclusive interviews.

Representatives for 21st Century Fox told the Times that O'Reilly denies the "merits of these claims" but that he "has resolved those he regarded as his personal responsibility".

"She's supposed to be the one that's standing up for women", Waters forcefully said.

O'Reilly's Tuesday program even beat offerings on ABC and NBC at that hour, in a rare victory for a cable network over broadcast television.

O'Reilly and Waters have sparred over the years, and now she's seen enough of the sexual harassment allegations levied against O'Reilly to believe that the conservative commentator shouldn't just be fired by Fox News, but that he belongs behind bars.

That is likely why one of the women O'Reilly and Fox settled with, Rebecca Diamond, felt the need to speak out.

Although O'Reilly seems inseparable from the Fox News brand, media observers have been split over whether he might be forced to leave.
