'World's Strongest Coffee' now available in US

Black Insomnia contains 702 milligrams of caffeine for every 12-ounce cup-and that's from what's already in the beans, no extra caffeine added.

Researchers say that a cup of coffee may cause heart palpitations.

The previous leader for most caffeinated coffee belonged to a brand called Death Wish Coffee, which has 660 milligrams of caffeine. One 12-fluid-ounce (355-milliliter) cup contains almost double the recommended daily allowance of caffeine.

They boast that the coffee has "dangerously high levels of caffeine".

Kristafor, a coffee lover, came up with the company after retiring from a corporate job, CNN reports.

The idea that Black Insomnia is the strongest coffee out there isn't just a matter of opinion, it's backed up by facts.

Cape Town, South Africa-based Black Insomnia proudly acknowledges its product is in no way part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle. "This makes it easier to consume more caffeine than you intend to and effects can range from mild to severe, for example, jitteriness, nervousness, restlessness and trouble sleeping. The most serious effect would be cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat)".

Black Insomnia's number one competitor is Death Wish, which is also a very strong type of coffee.

Both coffees are available for sale on Amazon, which could not be reached for comment.

Caffeine Informer's editor Ted Kallmyer places Black Insomnia on its list of the most unsafe caffeinated products. A screenshot of the coffee's "Dangerous" rating on the Caffeine Informer website features prominently on its homepage.
