Wladimir Klitschko v Tyson Fury postponed

Fury beat Klitschko on points in their original bout in November previous year, but since then the champion has been courted by controversy.

The first fight seems quite a while back in the past now, when Tyson Fury famously outpointed long reigning champion Wladimir Klitschko in a remarkable win in Germany last November.

An original rematch scheduled for July was called off after the Manchester fighter suffered a sprained ankle, although the reasoning for the latest postponement is less clear.

This is the second time that the rematch has been postponed.

The statement from Hennessey Sports didn't disclose the exact nature of the problem, but indicated that the condition 'is too severe to allow him to participate'.

'We will be making a further statement in due course.

The pair were due to meet on July 9 before Fury called the fight off prior to embarking on a Euro 2016 pub crawl, whilst the unified king was a recent no-show at the press conference citing auto trouble as the problem. Tyson will now immediately undergo the treatment he needs to make a full recovery.

Shortly after, it was reported that Fury failed a drug test from UKADA for a banned substance.

Tyson Fury's proposed title defence against Wladimir Klitschko is set to be postponed for a second time, according to reports. Tyson is understandably devastated by the development.

It left him free to face Klitschko on October 29 with a hearing with the National Anti-Doping Panel that would decide his fate on the doping charge also put back until November.

Fury was provisionally suspended, but that ban has since been lifted.
